Our inaugural event kicks off on Halloween weekend 2026 in London — and we plan to take this show on the road yearly, bringing Horror Noire live to other parts of the globe!
Blaxploitation became the gateway through which Black horror first stalked its way into American cinema. Rising from the 1970s, the genre was marked by its bold use of Black leads and its raw themes of crime, violence, desire, and racial tension—summoning iconic nightmares like Blacula (1972) and Sugar Hill (1974).
Decades later, a new wave of terror was unleashed with the cult phenomenon Get Out (2017). Brought to life by comedian-turned–master of dread Jordan Peele, the film cast a spell on audiences worldwide and claimed the 2018 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
Since this eerie resurgence, films and series such as Sinners, His House, Lovecraft Country, Them, and many others have carried Horror Noire into a new generation—conjuring tales that weave together race, gender, and politics with bone-deep fear. These stories don’t just frighten; they haunt, provoke, and linger long after the screen fades to black.
